This past week, the top suppliers and experts in supplements and raw materials gathered at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for the biggest yearly event on the subject, Supply Side Global 2026. Best in Nature attended as part of our ongoing efforts to source better and more environmentally-friendly ingredients. This includes attending conferences and presentations by suppliers as well as meeting with our existing suppliers to advocate for higher standards in quality and sustainability. Here are 5 key areas of innovation in the supplement industry that we observed at Supply Side Global.

1. Healthy Aging and Longevity
Healthy aging is increasingly about more than simply living longer. SupplySide Global 2026 highlighted the growing focus on healthspan, the years spent living in good health. That means years spent moving and doing tasks independently.
Discussions focused on cellular health, cognitive function, metabolism, and maintaining physical independence as we age.

2. GLP-1 Medications and Metabolic Health
The growing popularity of GLP-1 medications for weight management is reshaping conversations about nutrition and supplementation.
Industry discussions explored how supplements and functional foods may help address nutritional challenges associated with weight loss. Specifically, there were discussions about helping people get enough nutrition on their newly decreased food intake to maintain protein intake, muscle mass, and digestive health.
3. Gut Health and the Microbiome
Gut health remains a major area of innovation, with increasing attention to dietary fiber, probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics. Remember that any nutrients you take in have to pass through the gut, your immune system is housed in the gut and it’s heavily linked to cognitive function.
Discussions examined how these fiber, probiotics and prebiotics interact with the gut microbiome, their potential roles in digestive and metabolic health, and the importance of developing effective, scientifically supported formulations.
4. Women's Health and Personalized Nutrition
Women's health continues to gain attention, particularly regarding menopause, hormonal changes, and evolving nutritional needs throughout life.
This reflects a broader movement toward personalized nutrition, with supplement formulations increasingly designed to address the needs of specific populations, age groups, and life stages.

5. Scientific Innovation, AI, and Regulatory Transparency
Technological innovation is transforming the dietary supplement industry, with artificial intelligence creating new opportunities for ingredient research, formulation, and product development. At the same time, greater emphasis on clinical substantiation, transparent labeling, and evolving regulations reflects the growing importance of scientific credibility and consumer trust.

To lighten things up, there was also a litter of puppies guests were allowed to visit who were allowed to play with. The puppies were also all up for adoption.
