What is breadfruit?
Breadfruit or 'Ulu is a traditional Polynesian staple starch belonging to the jackfruit family. It's enjoyed across tropical areas and has fed Hawai'i for generations. It's naturally gluten free and when you purchase a product from the Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Cooperative you are supporting 150+ Hawaiʻi farmers across the state of Hawaiʻi.
Currently Hawai'i imports 90% of its food so resilient local crops like Ulu bring help return food production and food security to the islands.
