Berberine is a compound that’s been traditionally used in Chinese medicine to treat infections, diarrhea and other inflammatory conditions.
It’s found naturally in some plants like European barberry, goldenseal, goldthread, Oregon grape, Phellodendron, and tree turmeric.
Clinical studies have demonstrated that berberine helps to support already normal glucose and lipid metabolism through its effects on the AMP-activated protein kinase and insulin.* Kinase regulates cellular energy and insulin acts on blood sugar. Berberine also has antioxidant properties that promote overall health.
